Regnum Christi International Universities (RIU)
The Regnum Christi International Universities considers RESEARCH as one of its strategic lines and directs its efforts to the following research areas
The research line in “Comprehensive Health and Well-being” focuses on five main lines: chronic and degenerative diseases, older adults and aging, nutrition, food biotechnology, bioethics, and public health. This research line covers a wide and diverse range of areas, all fundamental to improving the health and well-being of the population.
With the increase in life expectancy and the continuous advances in the field of health, challenges related to sedentary lifestyle, inadequate eating habits, functional foods and nutraceuticals, and the increase in ailments associated with mental health, such as stress or depression, as well as chronic and degenerative diseases arise. In this context, it is imperative to address the study of health and well-being from a comprehensive perspective. Multiple aspects of comprehensive health can be addressed, promoting a holistic and multidisciplinary approach in their research. This framework facilitates collaboration between different departments and disciplines, thus enhancing the innovation and impact of research.
The research line “Person and Society” brings together various disciplines that, each from its specificity and scope, have in common the purpose of promoting the participation and interaction of people in society, such as law, communication, education, international relations, and social responsibility.
Through this thematic area, we place special emphasis on four research lines: Social responsibility, inclusion and sustainability; International legal and political analysis, migration, Applied Communication; and Leadership in Education. These dimensions are fundamental to understanding social dynamics and promoting human development, offering opportunities to explore relevant and current topics in the social and human context. By focusing on these areas, they can significantly contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development of policies and practices that benefit society as a whole.
The research line in “Humanities and Arts” seeks to explore the complexity of the human being and its cultural expression through various disciplines that range from history, architecture, and bioethics to personalism and art studies. These disciplines not only offer a deep understanding of the human condition, but also enrich our appreciation of the world around us and foster creativity and critical thinking.
Through these thematic areas, the commitment is to investigate and promote cultural diversity, artistic creativity, and humanistic thinking, with the aim of enriching the human experience and contributing to intercultural dialogue and the construction of a more inclusive and tolerant society. In this sense, this research focuses on various dimensions that include, but are not limited to: history and culture, the architecture of the built heritage, bioethics, personalism, and art studies.
The research line in “Economics, Business, and Development” focuses on understanding and addressing current economic and business challenges to promote sustainable and inclusive growth. This thematic area covers a wide range of disciplines, from economics and business administration to innovation and social entrepreneurship.
Through research in this area, it seeks to contribute to the development of economic policies and practices that drive social well-being and equity, as well as to strengthen business capabilities to face changes in the global environment. In this sense, research focuses on various dimensions that include sustainability in business, administration and marketing, entrepreneurship, and sectoral economics. Through research in these areas, its search is to generate knowledge and provide practical tools to address the economic and business challenges of the 21st century, promoting inclusive, sustainable, and equitable economic growth.
The research line in “Exact Sciences and Technology” is dedicated to exploring the frontiers of knowledge in fundamental areas, such as the application of mathematics, engineering, and technological innovation, to achieve greater efficiency in various spheres of economic and industrial activity, prioritizing a sustainable development approach.
This thematic area covers a wide variety of disciplines ranging from pure theory to practical application, and seeks to understand and take advantage of the fundamental principles that govern the physical and digital universe. Through research in this area, the commitment is to drive innovation and technological progress, as well as to train highly skilled professionals who can face the scientific and technological challenges of the 21st century. In this sense, research focuses on various dimensions that include: materials science and engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, biomedicine, and humanism in the digital age.
