Reseña Curricular

María Salomé Mariotti Celis is a Food Engineer from the University of Chile and holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC). In 2012, she was the recipient of the Women in Science Award from L'Oréal-UNESCO, and in 2014, she received the award for the best doctoral thesis from PUC. She later conducted her Postdoctoral studies at the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana. Dr. Mariotti-Celis has served as an academic in the Biotechnology departments of the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana and the Nutrition department of the Universidad Finis Terrae. Her research is translational in nature and aims to improve the understanding of the relationship between food and health, specifically in the rational design of foods for older adults with high bioavailability of bioactive compounds. She currently holds positions as a research academic at the School of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Universidad Finis Terrae, director of the Advanced Research Center in Nutrition and Health (CIANS), and director of research at the Faculty of Medicine of the same university. She is also executing her Fondecyt Regular project titled "Rational design of phlorotannin oral delivery systems to control the metabolic status of sarcopenic or sarcopenic risk of elderly".
